Tom Hiddlestonmay be part of a contentious sibling relationship on screen, but in real life, he has a sweet bond with his two sisters, Emma and Sarah Hiddleston.
TheLokistar grew up with Emma and Sarah in England, moving from London to a village near Oxford when he was young. Their parents split when Tom was 12 years old, perThe Guardian, which he credited for making him “more compassionate in my understanding of human frailty,” as he toldThe Daily Telegraphin 2014.
Sarah, Tom’s older sister, eventually pursued a career in journalism, while Tom’s younger sister, Emma, followed in his footsteps and works as an actress.
“I’ve got two sisters and their names are Sarah and Emma, and if you’re watching Sarah and Emma, I love you very much,” he said, turning to the camera. “And the thing is they know that. As a family, we’re so tight.”

Tom used to teasingly annoy his sisters when they were kids

Tom is best known for playing Loki, the conniving, mischievous brother of Thor, the god of thunder in the Marvel franchise. While Thor and Loki may have a turbulent sibling bond, Tom shared that in real life, he and his sisters have a very different relationship — though he did get away with a trick or two when they were young.
“The worst it got was on long car journeys we were all sitting in the back seat, and you know, you’re young and Sarah’s eating my Mars bar or something, just stupid things,” Tom said. “Like why have you got the chicken nuggets? It’s just silly things."
“It’s never quite been a sibling rivalry that involves the potential end of the world, universe, space and time so this is a new thing,” he added, referencing the feud between Loki and Thor.
Tom and his sisters used to write plays for their parents
The Hiddlestons got their love for acting when they were young, working with their cousins to write plays for their families. Those early days of acting and writing were what first inspired Hiddleston to get serious about his profession.
“Me and my sisters and my cousins used to write plays in the summer holidays together and build the costumes and the sets and writing these stories,” Tom shared in an interview withBAFTA Guru. “They were completely outlandish and fantastical and then we’d perform them for our parents at the end of the summer.”
His sisters say he sometimes resembles his character Loki

Of the three siblings, Tom admits he is the more mischievous one, much like Loki. In an interview withYahoo!7in 2014, he shared that he was the worst behaved of his family and his sisters were “better at being responsible.”
“They would be the first to tell you that I spent years and years and years just irritating them like annoying them for the sake of it,” he said. “But that’s what brothers are for and they would do the same thing, but I guess that’s quite a Loki thing to do. Especially when they see the film, they’re like ‘God that’s such a Tom thing to do.’ “
Emma is an actress

Emma has worked on multiple projects in the past, including 2007’sUnrelatedalongside Tom where they played siblings. She also appeared in two episodes ofWolf Hallin 2015 and an episode ofEndeavourin 2014.
She has also performed on the stage, in plays such asButleyin London.
Sarah works as a journalist in India
Tom’s older sister chose a different career path than her siblings, working as a journalist based in Chennai, India, for some time. As of 2010, she was based in the Indian city, per herTwitter, but Tom revealed in 2021 that she had since moved.
When asked what word he thinks of when he hears “Indian city” in a game of word association forDisneyPlus Hotstar IN, Tom answered “Chennai.” “My akka [elder sister] lives there, she used to live there,” he said. “I have been there a few times, Chennai is great.”
Tom also shared that he attended her wedding in India when he was one month into filmingThor, per theFinancial Times.
Tom has credited his sisters for helping his understanding of women

“I believe in the strength and intelligence and sensitivity of women,” he said. “My mother, my sisters [they] are strong. My mum is a strong woman and I love her for it.”
They all have families of their own
Tom and his sisters have all grown their families, with Tom welcominghis first childwith his partnerZawe Ashtonin October 2022.
Sarah got married in 2009 to Yakov Chandy, who is a managing director at TNQ Technologies United, per hisLinkedIn. Emma is also married, wedding Jack Blakiston-Houston in 2015. Tom has since beenseen walking aroundwith his brother-in-law.
