Swifties are celebrating the holiday that centers around one ofTaylor Swift’s favorite pastimes — dropping Easter eggs.
“Dropping easter eggs since 1989. What’s your favorite that you’ve found through the eras? 🐰🥚,” read the post’s caption.
Along with being a colorful shell sometimes filled with candy or money to celebrate the holiday, “Easter egg” has become a term for hidden messages in pop culture that reference other projects or offer hints about upcoming events.
Swift has become famous for dropping them in her songs and videos since early on in her career. Her earliest Easter eggs were hidden messages she wrote to fans in the liner notes of her albums using capital letters to explain what songs are about.

More recently, sheteased the releaseof her upcoming album,The Tortured Poet’s Department, before announcing its existence and release date at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Feb. 4.
In the music video for her song “Bejeweled” from the albumMidnights, Swift held a clock in her hands that said “Exile ends” with the numbers two and three on it. Looking back, fans realized that 2/3 marked the day before she announced her new Era.
Another hint came in October 2023 when Swift and long-time collaboratorJack Antonoffheld up 11 fingers in photos that the singer posted of the pair in the studio. In hindsight, they were likely hinting at her upcoming release, her 11th studio album.
