“When we found out we were having a girl, I was floored, I was shocked,” Bellisario, who gave birth to adaughter back in October, told fellow actressKatie Loweson Monday’sepisode of her podcast,Katie’s Crib. “Of course I was worried.”

Bellisario added that her past was one of the biggest reasons she had concerns about having a daughter.

“I was thinking about my relationship with my mother. I was thinking about my history with my eating disorder. This is horrifying,” she said.

The actress admitted to the podcast host that she didn’t know if she could “mentally” be ready for the job. “I didn’t grow up with girls,” she said. “It was such a foreign, alien landscape to me.”

Despite this, the 33-year-old foundcomfort and support in aspecific group of people to prepare for motherhood.

“Thankfully, I had a really wonderful group of women around me. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become better friends with women,” she explained.

Bellisario is married toSuitsactorPatrick J. Adams. Despite the couple’s initial fears of parenthood, those concerns all but vanished once their child arrived and she felt an “instant connection” to their daughter.

“Immediately, I just didn’t want to be apart from her,” the new mom said. “Icouldn’t stop staring at her. I felt immediate love, responsibility, admiration for her. She was awesome.”

“Know that it is going to be constantly changing. Know your limits,” she said. “I am constantly learning my limits.”
