Mandy Moore’s father is taking his final flight as an American Airlines pilot!
Thenew momandThis Is Usstar, 37, shared a sweet Instagram post on Monday in honor of her father Donald’s retirement after a 42-year career.
“My dad, Captain Don, is on his last flight as an @americanair captain. It’s the end of an era for our family,” wrote the actress, sharing a few photos of the celebratory event, including a shot of a cake that reads “The Legend Has Retired” and “We’ll Miss You.”

Moore’s parents divorced when she was 23 after her mom, Stacy, left her dad for a woman. She also has two brothers — one older, Scott, and one younger, Kyle — who are both gay. The star told PEOPLE in 2017 that her family is “extraordinarily close” because they embrace their differences and love each other unconditionally.
“Nobody is hiding who they are. There are no secrets in our lives. I love and support my mom and my brothers with my whole heart,“she said at the time. “And nothing makes me happier than seeing anybody live their authentic self, and to choose love. If anyone can find love, I support it, I salute you and I celebrate that.”
Moore and Goldsmith, who is a singer-songwriter and the lead guitarist of the folk band Dawes,married in a private backyard ceremonyin Pasadena, Calif. in November 2018, after getting engaged in September 2017 .
Moore was previously married to musician Ryan Adams, whom she married in 2009 at age 25. The pair split in 2015 andofficially divorcedin 2016.
