ThePretty Little Liarsalum, 34, revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday that she has been sober for two years, which is also equivalent to 24 months, 731 days and 17,523 hours.
“This continues to bethe greatest gift I’ve given myself. I remain so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joys, and self realizations,” Hale wrote in her Instagram caption.
Added the actress, “To be able to show up as myself and to be greeted with such warmth and acceptance is something I do not take for granted ♥️.”

“The interactions, conversations, and moments of vulnerability from people I know, people I used to know, from people I’ve hurt, from people who’ve hurt me, from strangers and even people on the internet have given my life so much color and meaning,” the actress continued.
She added that the experiences “have been my favorite takeaway from this last year.”
Hale then thanked every person she’s connected with before leaving a word ofencouragement for anyone who is struggling.
“Please know you are not alone and that you do not have to trek this path alone,” she said. “There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us.”

In February 2023, Hale opened up about her struggles with alcohol over the years on an episode ofThe Diary of a CEOpodcast, revealing that she had “been working on getting sober since I was 20.”
“I just held on to that belief that the real Lucy came out when she was drinking,” she continued. “It also quieted my mind … my brain just doesn’t shut off and it’s exhausting. Iwas a textbook binge drinker, blackout, wouldn’t remember what I did or what I said, which is scary.”
TheKaty Keeneactress said she’d had a problem with alcohol since her first experience drinking at age 14, admitting that there was never a period in her life where she was a “normal moderate drinker.”
“I was willing to go to this crazy dark place every time,” Hale explained. “Of course I tried to be a moderate drinker, just having two. I have an allergy to alcohol. I cannot drink. I view it as an allergy; my brain doesn’t work the same way as someone who can just have a glass of wine. It always wants more. It’s craving that feeling.”
Halesaid it was up to herto actually want to get sober. She said she finally made that commitment on January 2, 2022, because she realized she “deserves more out of this life.”
