The superstar revealed she doesn’t have a boyfriend and isn’t looking for one in a recentInstagram Livechat with fans following her appearance on theTODAYshow, during which she also opened up about starting over following her divorce from exBrandon Blackstockandmoving to New York CityforThe Kelly Clarkson Show.
“Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking. You know why? I love being single,” declared Clarkson, 41, during the live stream. “I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, multiple jobs — there’s a lot going on. And, you know, you think you’re going to spend the rest of your life with somebody, and you don’t. That’s hard to start over.”

TheAmerican Idolalum has been candid about her divorce since itwas finalized last year, especially as she’s released her latest albumChemistry, which chronicles the ups and downs of a past long-term relationship.
Responding to a question about how she’s navigated the highs and lows of lifeon the3rd Hour of TODAY, Clarkson said, “In all honestly, I think it’s just happiness and really making sure you’re surrounding yourself with people that, you know, you share similar things.”
She continued, “Obviously people that progress you as well as a human. But I think it’s more about happiness. What makes you happy? If it doesn’t make you happy, stop doing it. If it’s not good for you, stop doing it. It’s hard to do.”
The “Miss Independent” performer cited moving to N.Y.C., where her hit NBC talk show’s next season is set to take place, as one thing that’s “helped” her journey.
“I love living here, and I’m a Texas girl, so I did not think I was gonna love it so much. But you will see this face all the time at the park. I love walking around,” explained Clarkson, noting that her children — daughterRiver Rose, 9, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7, both shared with Blackstock — “love it so much.”
Remy isn’t alone in his adoration for the city’s public transportation. “I love the subway, too. It’s so much faster than everything, even a car,” said Clarkson.
