A squad of researchers hasdeveloped a techniquewhich use mirror figure sign to dramatically increase the accuracy — and speed — of data contagion across the cyberspace .
The teamexplain in Nature Photonicshow it ’s possible to send not one but two beams of light down a roughage cable : one the normal data signal , the other its mirror image — or , more accurately its phase angle conjugate solution . At the other end of the overseas telegram it ’s possible to recombine the signal in such a way that computer error make by disturbance in the signals is cancelled out .
The trick works in much the same style as racket - cancel earpiece , and crucially means that data can be beam much further before it becomes corrupted by hinderance . In fact , the twin radio beam are capable to travel four times further than normal data streams , and the squad has so far managed to achieve speed of 400Gb / s down 12,800 klick of optical fiber .

As ever , while it fathom like a marvellous estimate in theory , transferring the technology to the real world will require extra infrastructure — and it ’s not clear that this is the best technique to use . But it ’s at least comforting to know that engineer around the creation are at least derive up with new ideas to fulfil our insatiable appetite for bandwidth . [ Nature PhotonicsviaBBCviaVerge ]
