DragonCon , Atlanta ’s major science fable and fantasy convention , harbinger earlier this week that they will be found the Dragon Award to honor the honest of flake entertainment .
The news comes as the convention gets ready to keep its thirtieth day of remembrance . The honour will cover the following category :
Best science fiction novel
good phantasy novel ( include paranormal )
good untried adult / middle tier novel
Best military skill fiction or illusion novel
Best alternate history novel
good apocalyptic novel
Best horror novel
just comic book
Best graphic novel
good installment in a continuing science fiction or fantasy serial , TV or internet
Best science fiction or fantasy motion picture
Best science fiction or fantasy PC / console table secret plan
Best science fable or phantasy mobile game
Best skill fiction or fantasy board biz
Best science fiction or phantasy miniatures / collectible card / role - playing game
There ’s some really interesting thing here that other major awards – such as the Hugo and Nebula award – do n’t cover , such as YA and Middle Grade Fiction and a extensive range of play types .
Dragon Award achiever will be selected by all fans – not just Dragon Con extremity or attendees – in an open nominating speech and final vote system . To accommodate as many creative genres as potential , award will be given in each of 15 categories treat the full range of fiction , strip , television , picture , video recording gaming and tabletop gaming .
There ’s no portal yet for voting , but it appear that the nomination process will start out in April and go through the end of July . A 2nd round of voting will pick the winner from the nominees .
The entirely open nature of ballot will be an interesting affair to watch , as the convention does n’t appear to be call for membership or attendance in guild to vote . Even though there ’s only a exclusive vote per person , it ’s light to guess that this is a system that could be abuse : DragonCon ’s ability to handle and deal with this will be interesting to see later this year .
What will also be interesting to see is how this award stir out as compare to that of bequest award such as the Hugo or Nebula , which draw from a fair specific syndicate of fans .
The victor of the initiative award will be herald during this class ’s convention , which will be held September 2 to September 5 , 2016 .
