BBC has revealed the rubric for the Doctor Who season finale , and it ’s one that ’s trusted to spark speculation . Couple that with the character pop up in the finale and the promise of a major closed book revealed .
RadioTimesunveiled the bill poster for the time of year finale , “ The Name of the Doctor . ” In add-on to the statute title , the poster also reveals that Alex Kingston ’s River Song will be return in the sequence . Showrunner Steven Moffat told RadioTimes that he is serious about a major secret being revealed , though he did n’t bespeak just what that enigma is :
“ There ’s survive to be a Book of Revelation . I ’m not teasing . I ’m not wrong - foot up you – you ’re about to find out something about the medico that you never knew before . And I think you ’re in for a shock . ”
Now , we know that River Song knows the Doctor ’s true name , but would Moffat unfeignedly reveal the Doctor ’s name to us viewers ? It ’s difficult to say what the series would gain from such a revelation ( although public figure have been a big theme of Moffat ’s political campaign ) , and it would be an super controversial move .
Given that the revelation is a “ shock , ” however , I suspect we ’ll be getting some other secret out of the Dr. . Any idea as to what it might be ?
