Dennis Quaid has star in many of our preferent science fiction movies , so we ’re excited that he ’s back in deep blank with the horror moving picture Pandorum . He differentiate us about Pandorum ’s freak out … and the Enemy Mine you never saw . mollycoddler !
In Pandorum , opening this Friday , Quaid bring Payton , one of two space traveler who waken from hypersleep aboard a monolithic spaceship . ( The other one is Bower , play by Ben Foster . ) Hypersleep always leaves travelers with full amnesia , so Payton and Bower do n’t know who they are . usually , there ’s supposed to be someone there to aid reorient you when you reawaken from hypersleep , but they ’re on their own . And they ’re locked in the midget room they wake up in . The first part of the movie is about their battle to escape from this room — but once they finally get out , “ that ’s when all hell breaks open , ” say Quaid .
Are we quick for the return of space horror ? “ I certain enough do hope so , ” say Quaid . “ If you have a expert story — and this is a with child story — a good movie , a play , exciting movie , the interview will show up . ” He says Pandorum is “ pretty amazing , in that it ’s part thriller , part repugnance moving picture , I guess … it ’s a myth , ask who are we ? Are we who we think we are ? ”
And even though you ’ve seen weird white creatures attacking our Italian sandwich out of the gut of the spaceship in the trailers and clip , there are n’t any aliens in this moving-picture show , says Quaid . “ The noncitizen are us . ”
Inthe cartridge holder we ’ve run across so far , Quaid ’s character seems like the steady voice of understanding , compared with Foster ’s jumpy , paranoid character . But “ that ’s only what it seems like , ” aver Quaid . “ My character is hiding something that even he himself does n’t get laid . ” Besides that , all Quaid will say about Payton is , “ He ’s not who he cerebrate he is , allow ’s put it that manner . ”

He had fun playing off of Foster ’s jumpy , paranoid fictitious character , but also has some “ pretty interesting ” repartee with Cam Gigandet , who plays Gallo .
Quaid has heard the inevitable comparisons with District 9 , what with humans peeling off their own skin and slow turning into some kind of cold-blooded animate being , but “ this is a very dissimilar case of narration . ” The plastic film ’s title , Pandorum , “ actually refers to a syndrome that occurs with keep up space trajectory , where one begin to lose their grip on realness . ”
Quaid also appears in the upcoming Biblical horror film Legion , in which hoi polloi have boil bursting out of their skin , among other thing . But Quaid tells us they did n’t quite get to shoot the entire movie before Loncraine was give the sack :
We did n’t film it completely twice . We shot in Iceland with another theatre director , for about four to six weeks , something like that . [ It was ] a very different conception of the film , and then the manager was give the axe . And we take in Germany with Wolfgang Petersen .
Nobody ’s ever seen the footage that Loncraine shot , and it ’s rumor to have been junked . But Quaid says it still survive somewhere , “ but I ’d care to see it myself . ” Quaid Loncraine ’s original version of Mine was “ grittier , ” at least partially because it was take on location , with real weather , and Petersen sprout his interpretation on a soundstage . “ It had a grittiness to it . ” But it was still the same canonic story of a human and an alien , enemies in a bitter war , get word to become friends .
And finally , we ask Quaid if he ’s still on dining table for G.I. Joe 2 . And he says , “ Yeah if they do one , i ’m there . ”
