Back in 2003 , lensman and astronomer Fred Bruenjes traveled to the depths of Antarctica in search of a full occultation . For his troubles , he induce this dead astonishing mental image of the eclipse pull a hole in space above Antarctica .

That image , to be fair , has been processed and doctored slightly to create a more dramatic image . Bruenjes tell it ’s a composite of four different photographs that catch what the occultation felt like to him .
