The Cassini - Huygens delegation released a stunning new ikon of Saturn ’s moon Enceladus at half form .
From the Cassini squad :
This half - lit aspect of Enceladus pay a pass resemblance to similar views of Earth ’s own natural satellite , but the similarity end there . Earth ’s rocky moonlight is covered in dour , volcanic basins and brighter , mountainous highland — both super ancient . The surface of icy Enceladus is uniformly burnished , far brighter than Earth ’s lunation . Large area of Enceladus ’ surface are characterized by young ( on geologic timescales ) , crinkle terrains .

This image was consider back in September 8th , 2015 at a length of 80,000 naut mi from the Moon .
